The Vaqs haven’t lost since August, piling up 13 wins and two draws since.

The Vaqueros got off to a flying start against Moorpark, scoring two goals in the first half. Impressive first-year Pierre Mattson scored his seventh goal of the season in the 21st minute, and Nikolai Littleton added another score just minutes before halftime.

City College started the second half with the third netted shot of the night thanks to Sophomore Kalum Horne. Justin Saul and John-Joe Slater both got their names on the score sheet, scoring the fourth and fifth goals later in the half.

Head coach John Sisterson felt that the game was competitive in the first half, but after the first and second goal, the team adjusted well and got more space to work with.

The Vaqueros have been known for their offensive threats, but the story so far has been their defense. Currently ranked No. 1 in the state, the team has only conceded six goals, while scoring 45.

The Vaqs’ goalie Yohna Adrabi tallied another shutout, making it 12 this year, and the fourth consecutive game.

The Vaqs will take on Canyons at 7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 9 at La Playa Stadium.
