Briefs: Campus events for the week

Monday, Nov. 4: California Community College State Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley will be visiting City College on Monday. As part of his visit, Oakley will be hosting a Campus Town Hall where he will be giving a presentation followed by a Q&A. The Campus Town Hall event will take place at 5 p.m. in the Garvin Theatre.

Tuesday, Nov. 5: From noon to 2 p.m. Michael Montenegro will be lecturing at the Center for Equity and Social Justice about Santa Barbara History from a Chicano Perspective. Montenegro is the founder of Chicano Culture de Santa Barbara, an online platform dedicated to archiving and promoting the Chicanx culture of the Santa Barbara Region. The lecture will take place in the West Campus Classroom Building Room 207. 

Tuesday, Nov. 5: Santa Barbara City Council elections will be held for districts 1 and 2. Read more about the candidates here

SPORTS

Tuesday, Nov. 5: With the postseason coming to an end, Men’s Soccer looks to beat Oxnard at 7:30 p.m at La Playa Stadium. 

Wednesday, Nov. 6: Before coming home for its final home game of the season, Women’s Volleyball will play against Cuesta College on the road. 

Friday, Nov. 8: Women’s water polo looks to finish the regular season strong as the team heads down to Ventura to play in the WSC Tournament before postseason play begins next Thursday. Men’s basketball kicks off its season Friday on the road against Chaffey in the LA Valley Monarch Classic. Back at City College, Men’s Soccer plays against Moorpark at 2 p.m, and Women’s Volleyball will battle Moorpark at 6 p.m in the Sports Pavilion in its final home game this season. 

Saturday, Nov. 9: After falling to Allan Hancock on Saturday, the Vaqueros hit the road to face Santa Monica at 1 p.m.
