City College men’s volleyball team was defeated Friday by Goldenwest in four sets 30-18, 20-30, 30-19, 30-27 before a televised audience in Huntington Beach.

The loss dropped the Vaqueros season record to 4-3.

“The first set we came out a little slow, a little timid,” said head coach Melody Parker.

In the second set the Vaqs managed to keep Goldenwest off balance by playing one of their best sets of the year.

Tyson Rietz and Chris Newcomb led the Vaqueros with 21 and 10 kills respectively.

The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 against El Camino in Torrance.
