Editorials
The Channels Editorial Board publishes editorials on topics of campus and community concern. Editorials are unsigned and represent a consensus opinion of the Editorial Board. They are written either by the opinion editor or the editor in chief.
While The Channels is published by students taking classes with the teacher of record acting as faculty adviser, the news website has long established its First Amendment community-forum status.
Under appropriate state and federal court decisions and California law, The Channels editorials are free from prior restraint by virtue of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Accordingly, editorials published should not be interpreted as the position of the Santa Barbara City College District, the college or any officer or employee thereof.
