The Vaqueros men’s golf team came up five strokes short of qualifying for the Southern Cal Regional’s at the Western State Conference finals at Los Serranos City College in Chino Hills.
City College’s Dodge Ward shot 79 and a 1-under 73 at the longest golf course in California to qualify individually.
The par-74 South Course measures 7,521 yards from the black tees. Ward’s 73 in the second round tied his season best.
Canyons won WSC matches 9 and 10 on Monday to finish with a 59-1 record. Glendale took second (42-18) and was the second automatic qualifier for the So Cal Regional, which will take place on May 9 at Bermuda Dunes near Palm Springs.
