Male student uses women’s restroom in the IDC Building

May 3 – 9:25 p.m.

An intoxicated homeless man attempted to steal students’ backpacks at La Playa Stadium. Spectators at the high school Track and Field Finals reported the strange activity. The man ran towards the beach and eventually returned to Lot 2 – C, where a vehicle was left running with the keys in the ignition. The homeless man then climbed inside and attempted to drive away. A coach from Santa Barbara High School also jumped into the car and removed the man from the front seat. SBDP was called and the homeless man was arrested.

 

May 7 – 1:45 p.m.

A man was cited for using the women’s bathroom in the third floor of the Interdisciplinary Center Building. A female faculty member noticed the male student’s distinctive clothing choice in the hallway. The student walked into the bathroom and used the stall next to the faculty member. When she looked at the floor she recognized the man’s leather boots and contacted campus security.

 

May 7 – 8:05 a.m.

A heated conversation between an instructor and student lead to harassment and threats towards the employee. The discussion was outside of the Physical Science Building. The student was angry with the instructor and began to yell. Students inside of the building could hear the conversation and felt concerned for the instructor’s safety. The instructor reported the complaint and security made contact with the student.

 

May 7 – 9:40 a.m.

A minor accident occurred between a taxicab and a school vehicle at the corner of Cliff Drive and Loma Alta. The taxi stopped at the East Campus stop sign and the car behind it did not brake quickly enough and hit the bumper. The taxi driver exited his vehicle and observed a little dent. There was no charge for the damage.

 

May 8 – 2:40 p.m.

A man’s behavior towards a woman began to make her feel uncomfortable and fear for her safety. She received multiple inappropriate text messages from a classmate. She told him to stop harassing her but he continued to send text messages. Security made contact with the male and discussed the situation.
