The SBCC Cosmetology Academy got ranked fifth best in the state. Students who join the program solely to do esthetician work learn about skin and waxing, while the cosmetology students learn about hair, skin, waxing and nails. After going through lectures and practicing what they learn, the students get to work with real clients in order to complete their hours needed to graduate. Estheticians spend about six months in the program to complete their 600 hours and cosmetology students spend about a year in the program to complete their 1,600 hours.
