The normally impassable 6600 block of Del Playa Drive in Isla Vista during past Halloween weekends was more calm this year at 12:30 am on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Isla Vista. The University of California, Santa Barbara held events open to currently enrolled Gauchos, including concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, combined with a noise ordinance for the weekend have greatly reduced the Halloween partying in IV.

This former church is currently under renovations to become a new Community Center in Isla Vista, Saturday, Oct. 17 at 976 Embarcadero Del Mar in Isla Vista. The space was open for an event called ‘Community Building Community,’ where residents and the public were able to give input on how best to use the available space, during Meet Your Neighbors Day in Isla Vista.

The Pardall Center offers UCSB students, City College students and the Isla Vista community a place to study and provides services such as printing and access to a mobile librarian on Wednesday nights throughout the semester, Wednesday night, Oct. 7 in Isla Vista. The space is located at 6550 Pardall Road and the center has both a website and Facebook page with contact information and scheduled open hours.

Dr. Charles Wood, a part-time jazz teacher for City College, is captured playing the Vibraphone, an instrument he claims to have mastered in under two years, Wednesday, Feb. 20, in a practice room in the Drama and Music Building on West Campus. Wood has been playing instruments and teaching musical arts for over 50 years.
