The City College softball team left Fresno over the weekend with four wins from two doubleheaders, including an upset of the state’s No. 1 ranked school College of the Siskiyous.
Sophomore Kailey Snyder was called on to pitch both games on Saturday and had a solid outing. She threw a three hitter with 10 strikeouts en route to a 3-1 victory over Siskiyous.
Snyder came back to throw a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts against Victor Valley College for a 5-0 win.
Snyder pitched the first seven games of this season. She has led the Vaqueros to a hot 6-1 start and City College improved to 8-1 over the weekend overall. She has 52 strikeouts in her 40 innings.
Lisa Zeitlin gave the Vaqs a 1-0 lead off of a sacrifice fly in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader. Siskiyous tied the game at 1-1 with a homerun by Faith Eranson in the sixth inning. City College then tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to capture the 3-1 win.
