City College women’s soccer team took home their sixth straight victory on Friday night at La Playa Stadium, defeating Moorpark 2-0.
Freshman Jenna Rubin scored the first goal after a corner kick in the 17th minute, and Jaclyn Schmidt increased the lead after a breakaway to 2-0 for the Vaqs.
Moorpark attempted a comeback in the second half, but instead of equalizing, Moorpark’s goalkeeper had to save the team from a larger deficit. Late in the second half, Jessica Domenichelliand Margot Valenzuela tested the opponent’s goalie with no luck.
Coach John Sisterson was pleased with his team’s performance.
City College is now 2-0 in the Western State Conference, and ranked No. 7 in Southern California.
Next game for the Vaqs will be on October 5 when they travel to face L.A West.
