Football loses more than just game

The football team’s leading receiver, Oscar Medina, had to step in and play quarterback against Santa Monica on Saturday night, since starter John Uribe suffered a dislocated elbow after a 17-yard run in the second quarter.

Medina completed 12 of 18 passes, and with the Vaqs down 16-13, he almost orchestrated a game-winning drive before fumbling the ball with 44 seconds to go.

Uribe is likely out for the season, and the Vaqs will have issues trying to fill his shoes when they head to L.A. Pierce on Oct. 24.
