Brief – Football squad wins first conference game

Freshman quarterback John Uribe completed 23 of 28 passes and threw for two second half touchdowns to lead the Vaquero football team to its first conference victory of the season against L.A. Southwest.

The Vaquero defense allowed just three points in the 28-3 win, the least points given up in the program’s last 79 games.

Uribe threw for 261 yards on the evening, and lead an 87-yard drive in the fourth quarter, to give the Vaqueros their fourth touchdown of the game.

The Vaqs have a bye next week, but look to ride the momentum from their victory in two upcoming home games against Santa Monica on Oct. 17 and L.A. Pierce on Oct. 24.
