Brief – Golf fundraiser offers new car

The 16th annual SBCC Golf Classic tees off Monday at the La Cumbre Country Club.

Benefiting nearly 400 Vaquero student athletes in 17 sports, it is the athletic department’s largest and most lucrative fund raiser of the year.

“Several athletes will be helping to administer the tournament,” said athletic director Mike Warren.

Aside from “carrying bags to picking up trash,” Warren explained that the event is an opportunity for locals who support Vaquero teams to meet some of the players, including members of the school’s champion Women’s golf team, who will be on the green at some holes.
