In downtown Santa Barbara only a stones throw away from the beach, the restaurant Bay Roadhouse Bar & Grill reopened this summer.
My dinner date and I received a kind welcome upon arrival and were seated in their candlelit outdoor area, beautifully decorated with plants and flowers. The furniture, made out of cast iron, was formed with typical Art Nouveau influences and helped contribute to the overall romantic atmosphere.
The restaurant’s interior was typically boathouse inspired with fishnets decorating the walls: black and white photographs of celebrities and colorful license plates from different states covered the remaining surface of the sky blue painted walls.
A glance at the menu revealed a wide array of appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, sandwiches, wraps, hamburgers, seafood dishes and steaks, as well as a large selection of wines and other regular beverages. And last but not least is the must-have dessert.
I decided to go with the paella, and I didn’t have to wait long for the delicious dish to be served. However, a few more shrimps on the moderate sized dinner plate would certainly be appreciated.
The staff at the Bay Roadhouse Bar & Grill exceeded our expectations with superb service. When it started to get chilly outside, our waiter kindly supplied us with a heat lamp. Although, they did commit a serious catering violation when they slipped us the bill halfway through our dessert, robbing us of the relaxation.
Overall I strongly recommend the Bay Roadhouse Bar & Grill for couple dinners or larger parties.
