A middle-aged man was stopped by the chief of Campus Security around 9 a.m. April 22 for driving under the influence.
Campus Security Director John Dafoe said he spotted Roberto Martin driving a white Toyota Camry by the West Campus parking structure. Dafoe said that he looked confused.
“I walked over to the window thinking he was simply lost,” he said.
Dafoe said that when Martin rolled down his window, he smelled alcohol on his breath.
He grabbed the keys and asked him to step out of the car.
“Martin displayed many of the indicators of someone who was extremely intoxicated,” he said.
When authorities came Martin registered a .27 blood alcohol content, three times the legal limit. Officer Chris Payne took him to jail on charges of driving under the influence.
