Brief – Student senate releases election results

In an election in which only 1-percent of the student body voted, the student senate has filled new officer positions for the following school year.

In the race for the only contested position, Nicole Ridgell beat Benjamin Goedert for student trustee.

Sixteen-year-old Emily Harrington will take Camila Avendano’s place as senate president.

“She’s motivated. I believe she’s capable,” student senator Dano Pagenkopf said. “She’ll be just fine as president.”

Atty Garfinkel, current commissioner of clubs and organizations, will serve as vice president of senate affairs.

Taking the position of vice president of external affairs will be Kevin Fock. Jason Stanley will serve as student advocate.

Currently the vacant officer positions for the 2009-2010 school year are vice president of Operations and Finance, Public relations officer, and commissioner of clubs.

The Student Senate will reconvene for their last meeting on May 8 in the Campus Center – Room 223.
