Library Director Kenley Neufeld has received a national award for Community College Learning Resources and Leadership, by the Association of College and Research Libraries.

“It felt great,” Neufeld said about the award. “It’s nice to be recognized for the job you’ve done.”

Since Neufeld got the position in 2005 he’s made many changes the library facilities and technological equipment.

“I tried to guide the Library into a new direction, and make it more inviting for students. I opened a café, brought all the computers together, and took down the signs that said No! and Don’t!,” Neufeld said.

“Kenley Neufeld’s leadership and technology innovations have benefited Santa Barbara City College and the community at-large,” said José Aguiñaga, Community and Junior College Libraries award committee chair.

The award, donated by EBSCO Information Service, consists of $500 and a plaque. It will be presented to Neufeld at the American Library Associations Annual Conference in Chicago on July 10.
