Communication department announces ‘Stand Out Student’

Honors student Matthew Poulin presents his first place winning paper titled “The Illegality of Prostitution is Unjust” to members of the honors program during the student conference on Friday, April 22, at the Business Communication Forum at Santa Barbara City College. The Honors program holds the student conference every spring and anyone is able to submit papers, art, music or movies about the chosen topic for prizes.

Doctor Thomas Carrasco is the instructor of the course “Racism in America,” which focuses on the diverse ethnic groups that have created the American culture of today, Thursday morning, April 14, 2015 at City College. Carrasco is also involved in the Sigma Chi Eta group and helps cordinate events on campus.

Tesla Motors visited Santa Barbara City College’s Automotive Service / Technology Department on Wednesday, April 6, in Santa Barbara to discuss the future of alternative fuel transportation industries and the need for trained technicians to support the rapid growth in these fields. Tesla Motors, has been a buzz in the news lately with the offering of its’ new Model 3 that boasts a base sticker price of $35,000, that Tesla says should target the average household.

Cris Hughes, guest lecturer from the University of Illinois, speaks with students after her presentation, “Introduction to Forensic Anthropology”, on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the Fe’ Bland Forum. Cris is more than happy to answer questions from students that may be considering a career in the forensic sciences, as she not only teaches forensic science, but helps multiple agencies across the U.S. during investigations that may involve human remains.
