Track team qualifies thirteen for Southern Cal Prelims

Stephen Scrafford of City College captured his second conference title in six days on Friday by winning the 5,000 meter in 15 minutes, 18.04 seconds in the WSC Track and Field Finals at Moorpark College.

The time is the ninth-fastest time in school history for Scrafford, who also won the WSC 10,000 title.

Twelve other Vaqueros qualified for the Southern Cal Prelims on Saturday at Saddleback in Mission Viejo.?
Ronald Dudley and Chase Lee went 1-2 in the javelin. Dudley recorded the sixth-best mark in City College history (180-0) and Lee notched the ninth best (169-0).

Other men’s qualifiers were Johan Lindqvist in triple jump (45-4), Zach Pattison in high jump (6-3) and the men’s 4×400 meter relay team of Freddie Maldonado, Donald Morgenson, Jeff Rosecrance and Pattison with a time of 3:22.39. Garrett Edwards and Matt Organista both advanced in the 10,000 due to scratches.?
The women’s team had Erika Schaeffer finish 2nd in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and her time of 11:50.33 moves her to third all-time in school history. Emelie Lundin took sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:24.60 and Alexandra Thompson advanced in the 15,000 after two scratches.

Southern California Prelims will be held 10 a.m. Saturday May 8 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, and the finals take place at the same location at 10 a.m. on May 15.
