Softball shutout in Moorpark

The City College softball team was shutout by Moorpark on Thursday, 2-0, despite a strong pitching performance from freshman Jeana Carrillo.

Carrillo allowed six hits and Kailey Snyder went 2-for-4 in the game.

The Vaqs (9-6, 1-3) have been sharp from the mound and the field all season, but failed to get “timely hits” at the plate on Thursday, explained head coach Paula Congleton after her squad out-hit the Raiders.

The Vaqueros dropped to 1-3 in Western State Conference Gold Division and failed to convert when runners were on base. They left nine players stranded on the bags throughout the game.
