Track & Field: Squad shows signs of improvement

City College Track and field competed in the Orange Coast invitational Friday in Costa Mesa.

A number of Vaquero athletes made strides at the meet. Aeryus Holloway recorded his best marks of the year in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump with distances of 20′-5″ in the Long Jump and 42′-8″ in the Triple Jump.

Connor Melon placed third in the 5,000 Meter with a time of 16:10.34 and Westley Korpela wasn’t far behind recording a time of 16:49.57.

On the women’s side Carina Celio covered 15′-7″ in the Long Jump to squeeze into 8th
place.

“We’re running our fastest times at the end of the season like we’re supposed to,” said head coach Scott Fickerson.

The next time the Vaqueros take the field will be Saturday April 18 at the Western State Conference Prelims in Ventura.
