The City College women’s tennis team couldn’t capitalize on a strong start and lost at the 111th Ojai Valley Tournament last weekend.
Nicci Yvanovich and Amy Sagraves had their chances on Saturday afternoon, but couldn’t close the door after taking the first set 6-4.
They went on to lose the next two sets 5-7 and 6-7.
“We had two match points in the second set and two more in the third,” head coach Debbie Ekola said. “We led for most of the match and had it on our racquets. It was a disappointing and tough loss.”

Yvanovich and Sagraves will compete in singles and doubles at the Southern Cal Individual Regional.
The event will be on Thursday at Grossmont in El Cajon.
