Baseball vs. Ventura (7-1) W
City College’s baseball team beat Ventura College away 7-1 in nine innings. This is the Vaqueros’ fifth win in a row and are currently leading the Western State Conference. The Vaqueros played LA Pierce Friday, April 25 to secure the conference title.
Softball vs. Oxnard (11-4) L
City College’s softball team lost to Oxnard College away 11-4. Sophomore Alena Johnson hit a double twice in the game. Once in the fourth inning and second in the sixth, earning the Vaqueros some runs. This was softball’s final game of the season, finishing conference with an 8-6 record and a 9-10 overall record.
Thursday, April 24
Baseball vs. Allan Hancock (10-4) W
The Vaqueros beat rivals Allan Hancock away 10-4 claiming their sixth win in a row. The baseball team was determined to win the conference title. This was baseball’s second-to-last conference game before they prepare for playoffs.
Men’s Volleyball vs. Golden West (3-0) L
After winning the state quarterfinal April 18, men’s volleyball lost to Golden West College 3-0 in the 3C2A State Championship Semi-Finals. This wraps up the Vaqueros’ season with a 16-8 overall record and 11-3 in the Western State Conference.
Friday, April 25
Baseball vs. LA Pierce (4-3) L
Baseball lost against LA Pierce away 4-3. This was the last conference game as LA Pierce broke the Vaqueros’ winning streak. Baseball did claim the Western State Conference title as they tied Cuesta for the league with an overall 17-7 record. The Vaqueros finished with a 25-13 overall record as they now prepare for playoffs.
