Friday, April 22

Swimming and Diving: 1st place at WSC Championships (at Cuesta)

The Vaqueros competed at the Western State Conference Championships this past weekend at Cuesta College, with day two on Friday. Elina Borghoff won the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:57.10 and finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.29. Ensley Letterman finished first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.58 seconds and came in second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:21.58.

 

Track and Field: WSC Prelims (at College of the Canyons) 

City College raced at the Western State Conference Preliminary meet on Friday. Freshman Aidan Mosley finished third in the men’s 400m race with a time of 49.59 seconds. Grant Spicer finished first in the men’s high jump at a 1.95m mark. Freshman Matthew Staples finished in fourth place in the men’s 100m race with a time of 11.12 seconds. The Vaqueros next race will be at noon on Friday, April 29 at Santa Monica for the WSC Championships.

 

Beach Volleyball: City College vs Glendale (at Santa Monica), vs Bakersfield (at Santa Monica)

Baseball: City College 2 vs Cuesta 1 (Make-up game from April 8)

City College came out with a win against Cuesta College on Friday. City College had a total of five hits for the game, three of those hits came from Ricardo Amavizca. Vaqueros pitchers Colby Downard and Noah Bullard made it hard for Cuesta to get their players on base, with a total of seven strikeouts combined. Amavizca had the game winning RBI in the eighth inning for City College.  

 

Saturday, April 23

Swimming and Diving: at WSC Championships (Cuesta)

City College ended the WSC with 664 points, claiming their seventh straight Western State Conference title. City College had a comfortable finish, with a 146 point lead. They will continue their season at the CCCAA State Finals starting on Thursday, May 5 at East LA College.

 

Baseball: City College 11 vs Ventura 5

The Vaqueros had a successful Saturday against Ventura College. City College had 12 hits total against Ventura. Caiden Matheny contributed three hits and Gabriel Baldavino had two hits, with Baldavino knocking in three RBIs. The Vaqueros next game will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 26 against Allan Hancock at Pershing Park.
