Rebound: Baseball beats Oxnard two times, men’s golf finishes 4th

Monday, Feb. 21

Men’s Golf: City College 4th place at SBCC (Alisal Ranch Golf Course)

City College placed 4th out of 8 teams at their hosted event at Alisal Ranch Golf Course. City College finished with a team score of 403, College of the Canyons won with a score of 373. Ryan Gay shot a 76 to lead the Vaqueros, while Caleb Rodriguez shot a 78 and Gabe Marmon shot a 79. The Vaqueros next competition will be at the Riverside Invite on Monday, Feb. 28.

 

Tuesday, Feb. 22

Softball: City College 1 at College of the Canyons 6 (Game One – Doubleheader)

The City College softball team played College of the Canyons on Tuesday in a doubleheader game. The Vaqueros scored the first run of the game and finished with four hits. Natalie Depasquale hit a single in the top of the first inning and scored a run for City College. Mckinnzie Grossini, pitcher Lauren Indermuehle and Isabella Huckaby had the other hits for the Vaqueros.

 

Softball: City College 0 at College of the Canyons 10 (Game Two – Doubleheader)

The Vaqueros had five hits in this game by Natalie Depasquale, Sarah Hammonds, Mellanie Barth, Alyssa Perez, and Mckinnzie Grossini. City College was shut out for the first time this season. Lauren Indermuehle struck out three in relief of starter Sarah Hammonds.

 

Baseball: City College 13 vs Oxnard 4

City College has scored in the double digits for three straight games and are currently on a winning streak of 4 games. The Vaqueros scored 8 runs in the first 5 innings. Leadoff batter Carson Cahoy had 2 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI this game. Starter Decker Mac Neil and reliever Noah Bullard had 2 strikeouts each.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 23

Men’s Tennis: City College 3 at Riverside City 6

Taylor Kleine had the lone singles win for the Vaqueros 6-2, 6-3. City College won two of the doubles matches with the duo Taylor Kleine and Kyosuke Kiuchi winning 9-8 [7-4], and Lucas Pollero and Hunter Gomersall 9-7. City College will compete next at Ventura on Tuesday, Mar. 1.

 

Softball: City College 1 vs Citrus 9 

City College player Paige Powell went 2-for-2, picking up almost half of City College’s 5 hits. Sarah Hammonds had a hit and an RBI, while Isabella Huckaby and Alyssa Perez also had singles for City college. Vaqueros pitcher Lauren Indermuehle had three strikeouts in 5 innings. Naveah Freitas scored the lone City College run. The Vaqueros next game will be at Antelope Valley on Friday, Feb 25.

 

Men’s Volleyball: City College 2 at Antelope Valley 3

City College had a close game against Antelope Valley that went to five matches. City College lost the first two sets, dropping 21-25 and 18-25. The Vaqueros won the third set 25-20 and brought the match level with a 25-23 win in set four, but dropped the decisive fifth set 15-17. City College is at Moorpark on Friday, Feb. 25.

 

Thursday, Feb. 24

Baseball: City College 1 at Oxnard 0

City College’s baseball team took home their second WSC-North win at Oxnard. The Vaqueros had three hits, including Carson Cohoy who scored the only run for City College. First baseman Mark Hernandez and second baseman Matty Fung also reached base. Starter Aiden Garza allowed five hits with three strikeouts in six innings. City College’s next home game will be Saturday, Feb. 26 versus Oxnard.
