Rebound: Men’s tennis slices win, men’s golf sinks a 2nd place finish

Monday, Feb. 7

Men’s Golf: City College 2nd [415] at WSC Canyons (Valencia Country Club)

City College men’s golf took second place in the Western State Conference Canyons event hosted by College of Canyons. Gabe Marmon led the Vaqueros and shot a 78 to take seventh place overall, and Caleb Rodriguez shot an 80. The next match for City College men’s golf will be at River Ridge golf course hosted by Ventura College at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14.

Women’s Basketball: City College 52 vs Ventura 58

The Vaqueros rallied from deficits of 10 points at halftime and eight in the fourth quarter to draw level, but were unable to take the lead. Trinity Scott scored a personal season-high 21 points, making five three-pointers and grabbing six rebounds, while Isabella Jensen Williams dished seven assists. City College (10-13, 5-4) hosts Allan Hancock at the Sports Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 8

Women’s Tennis: Season Suspended

City College was scheduled to travel to Santa Monica College, but did not make the trip as it was announced the season has been suspended. The Vaqueros previously had their first two matches of the season, at Ventura College on Feb. 1 and hosting Antelope Valley College on Feb. 3, marked as postponed.

Men’s Volleyball: City College 0 vs Orange Coast 3

The Vaqueros dropped their season opener to the visiting Pirates 25-21, 25-15 and 25-23. Jackson Dupler led City College with six kills, while Nate Rogers had six digs and Carter Cottrell dished 11 assists. The Vaqueros are at Palomar on Friday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. and will face Grossmont on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m.

Thursday, Feb. 10

Men’s Tennis: City College 5 vs Glendale 4

City College men’s tennis won their first home game of the season against Glendale, making the Vaqueros record 2-1 overall. The Vaquero’s next game is on Tuesday, Feb. 15 against Fullerton at 2 p.m.

Softball: City College 2 at Riverside City 3

The Vaqueros and Tigers traded the lead five times before host Riverside City College went ahead for good in the sixth. Natalie Depasquale went two-for-four, Armani Garcia had an RBI sac fly and Naveah Freitas added an RBI single. Lauren Indermuehle pitched her first complete game of the season allowing eight hits and three runs (two earned) with two strikeouts. The Vaqueros are at Santiago Canyon College for a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 11.

Baseball: City College at West LA – No Score Reported

The No. 19 Vaqueros game against the Wildcats did not have a score reported as of publishing time on Friday, Feb. 11. City College returns home for their next scheduled game against East Los Angeles College at Pershing Park on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
