City College baseball wins first away game of season against Santa Ana

The Vaqueros showed resilience and timely hitting as it came back from a 7-9 deficit Friday and prevailed 11-9 against Santa Ana.

City College won its first road game of the season and the number two-ranked team in Southern California lost its second game in a row.

Conner Rehage went 4-5 with three RBIs and sparked life into the Vaqs in the eighth inning with a two-out RBI single, one of three runs scored in the inning.

Santa Barbara never looked back and improved its record to 6-4 on the young season.

Joe McGrew pitched and got his first win of the season. As he threw five innings, he gave up six runs on five hits. DJ Gunderson pitched the final three and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on 58 pitches.

City College will look to keep its bats scorching when it faces Glendale College at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Glendale.
