Santa Barbara City College’s baseball team had a rough weekend dropping both games of a double-header on the road at Long Beach.
The Vaqs returned home with an 11-5 overall record. With the two losses the team has stumbled, losing four of five.
The visiting Vaqs were defeated in the first game 10-3 and the second game 9-5, but did not leave with out a fight.
In game two, after being out scored 19-3 throughout the first game and well into the second, City College put up a 5-run seventh inning.
The late offensive surge turned a blowout into a respectable game and may be the jump-start the team needs heading into conference play.
The Vaqs open their Western State Conference schedule with a visit to Oxnard on Thursday. The teams will meet again at 1 p.m. Saturday Feb. 28 at Pershing Park.
