On Friday, Feb. 7, the Associated Student Government (ASG) met for the second time this semester discussing future activities for City College.
A newly elected Board of Trustees member Kyle Richards, took the time in public comment to introduce himself. Richards brings previous experience from his time at UCSB, where he held former roles in housing, LGBTQ+ student resources, the Academic Senate and previous service as a city council member.
ASG continues to prepare for club day on Feb. 19. A motion was made to change the start time to 10 a.m. to allow clubs more time to set up in the morning.
The vendor fair committee, led by commissioner of fundraising Marco Bonometti, provided an update on the plans of a vendor fair, proposing March 10 through March 14 as tentative dates. The committee has sent out interest forms to potential vendors and are currently waiting to hear back.
Commissioner of marketing Hannah Jensen, who is leading the merch committee, provided updates on designing logos and color themes for hoodies they want to create. Jensen spent time researching different places where they could get hoodies printed. She plans to have a presentation with more finalized design options and a budget proposal.
ASG advisor Christopher Johnson closed the meeting providing an overview of the ASG budget. He highlighted the sustainability fund as a resource to utilize.
“We have not found a way to reduce that money to spend it,” Johnson said. “We had a one time agreement last year to move some money over, but that’s an opportunity to look at how we can use sustainability [fund].”
Bonometti announced his recent election as Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society president. He invites all interested students to check out the program and ask him any questions about the program.
The next ASG meeting will take place on Friday, Feb. 21.
