Review: Chegg.com saving your money and your planet

Because textbooks are getting so expensive and people are trying to get more bang for their buck, students are starting to gravitate to renting textbooks.

Chegg.com is a website where you can do that and also give back to the planet. The website offers textbook rental and buyback, and they also plant a tree through the American Forests Global ReLeaf program every time you rent.

I love the concept of this website. What is better than saving money and contributing back to the planet by planting a tree? I like how it gives you plenty of time to send the book back at the end of the term with the option to extend the time if needed. However, this option is rather expensive, and a few extra days seemed to almost double to rental price.

I also like the way this site is laid out. It is very easy to search for the books you need. It’s user friendly and it does a good job keeping the selling aspect and the renting aspect apart for easier navigation.

However, I don’t like the fact that there has been some trouble with sending your tree to the right place. There is an option at checkout on which country you’d like to plant your tree, but the system seems to have a glitch and my tree was sent to the wrong place.
