Student Senate adopts 09/10 budget

The Associated Student Senate met on Oct. 2, during which they approved their 2009-2010 budget.

The approved budget will allow them to order more senate t-shirts, make improvements to the senate room, and re-instate the McKinley School Luncheon Program.

The McKinley School Luncheon Program is a program where, once a month, 5-6 kindergartners will visit City College. A member from the senate will take the kids on a tour of the school and provide the children with lunch.

With 17 of the 20 available spots now filled on senate, the senators had much to discuss.

The senators established a club grant tracking system in order to receive written feedback from clubs about what was gained from their grant money.

The senate also discussed building a student senate website, and finding ways to improve the current textbook rental program on campus, and creating maps of the new designated smoking areas to install in classrooms.

The senate filled two more vacancies on Friday, bringing the current number of senators to 19. Three officer seats were filled as well.

Chao Wang is the new Student Senate Advocate, Milochka Tshibingu is the new Public Relations Officer, and Cassandra Seigel is now the Commissioner of Clubs.

Their next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. this Friday in Campus Center 223.
