The Vaqueros finished the season 22-14 overall and were awarded the No. 7 seed for the upcoming Southern Cal Regional playoffs.

They will face No. 10 seed Riverside in a first-round, best-of-three series.

City College will rely heavily on its pitching, which ranked among the top staffs in the state with a 2.93 team earned run average. The Vaqs also led all California teams with 312 strikeouts. Lefty pitchers Chris Joyce and Kylin Turnbull, along with right-hander Colby Morse create one of the most formidable starting rotations in the So-Cal Regionals.

Center fielder Cody Giordano finished the season with a team best .344 batting average while all-purpose player Joey Epperson led the Vaqs with 23 runs batted in.

Game one of the series against Riverside will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Pershing Park.

Game two will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday followed by game three, if necessary.

The winner of the playoff series will move on to one of two, four-team Super Regionals beginning on May 13.
