Reality TV Review – ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’

At first, people may be turned off by Dog Chapman and his family, or “crew,” of bounty hunters because of their crazy looks and odd job. However, they are rather entertaining.

Dog and his crew became famous for their capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico after he fled his rape trial in 2003.

His show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, premiered shortly there after.

The show focuses on Dog and his family: wife Beth, sons Leland and Duane Lee, and daughter “Baby” Lyssa as they track down fugitives who have skipped bail. Other family members are seen in the series as it moves from Hawaii to Colorado, where the family has bail bond offices.

In the episode “Mister Mom,” Dog’s “blood brother” Tim makes his return. Tim had starred in the show in earlier seasons, but quit to care for his children.

The fugitive in the episode, Kurt Kalekini, has his bail revoked after failing to check in. He was originally arrested for dealing drugs.

The crew begins their search in Chinatown where they get a lead informing them that Kalekini is around downtown Honolulu at night.

Three hours later they receive a tip on where he is. Tim and Leland arrive first, handcuff him and bring him into custody.

Sadly, this episode didn’t have a great chase scene or a standoff like others have had, but it follows the basic pattern for an episode with one goal, to get their man.
