The Santa Barbara Eyeglass Factory is offering free glasses for eligible City College students.

“To be eligible students must reside in Santa Barbara County, have a low-income and no insurance,” said Susan Broderick, student health services and wellness program director.

Students interested should go to the City College Student Health Services, located in the Student Services Building and get a referral form. Once the form is processed students can make an appointment with an optometrist.

According to Broderick, not every frame is included in the deal, but they can be upgraded if the student is willing to pay the added expense.

This program is being run by the Santa Barbara Vision Care Program, which is a part of SEE International, a local non-profit that helps people from the Third World who have vision problems.

An optometrist next door from the Eyeglass Factory also offers a free eye exam.
