Brief – Mediocre finish for SBCC at Cuest Invitational

The City College cross country team competed at the Cuesta Invitational on Saturday in San Luis Obispo, finishing the meet with mixed results.

The Men’s team placed sixth out of 15 schools while the women’s team experienced success on an individual level.

Sophomore Carly Harris placed fifth overall in the women’s 5,000-meter run with freshman teammate Brisa Jessup finishing 30th.

In the men’s four-mile race, freshman Mark Moreno finished 14th with a time of 23 minutes 25 seconds.

“Moreno has great speed and is really responding to his training,” said head coach Keith Kephart

Freshman David Meyer finished 17th overall and Joey Alvarez finished 33rd.

Despite rolling his ankle during the run, freshman Chris Simpson, was able to grind out a 47th placing.

“They really learned to run together, which is what it takes to win a Cross Country race,” Kephart said.
