CD Review-Zion 1

The fourth release by the Oakland duo, Zion-I, is straight from the jukebox of the future and will not disappoint your eardrums. DJ Amp Live uses sounds and instruments that you can’t find on any other album. “True & Livin'” is just a tribute to how Zion-I has grown over the years.
The group toured the west coast as a part of the hip-hop scene for years, going for the most part unnoticed. But their 2005 release has them teamed up with big names like Talib Kweli, Aesop Rock and Del.
MC Zion is top notch. His educated style of rhyming will have you hitting the rewind button. It’s really the mixture of electronic and live instrumental beats that completes the album. This group is truly the best I’ve never heard of. They recently debuted two videos on MTV, and you can check them out at www.zionicrew.com.
