City College has hired a new full-time physical education teacher who will also coach the women’s basketball team.
Sandrine Krul, one of the head coaches of women’s basketball at Moorpark College, will officially begin work on Aug. 26.
She has already been meeting with continuing players and recruiting new ones.
Krul replaces part-time employee Jamie Friesen, who coached the team during the 2002-2004 seasons.
As a full-time faculty member of the Physical Education Department, Krul will be teaching both theory and activity courses, in addition to her role as head coach.
“I’m really excited about working with the people at Santa Barbara City College,” Krul said. “I believe in the philosophy of character development and getting an education too.”
Ron Baker, athletic director, said the committee was very impressed with her teaching experience.
