Two cases of tampered locks on campus, nothing of value stolen

Oct. 10 – 8 a.m.

Security received a report of a burglary in the IT storage area. At 5:30 a.m. Security noticed the lock had been removed, but didn’t identify anything missing at first. There is surveillance footage of the suspect entering at 11:48 p.m. and going through surplus equipment until 12:10 a.m. Nothing of value was stolen. A report was filed with the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Oct. 11 – 9:30 p.m.

A staff member asked Security for assistance in the PE men’s locker room after allowing a student into the room after its closing time of 9:30 p.m. The student was yelling foul language toward the custodian, and the custodian said he had no idea why the student started to yell at him after he had helped him.

Oct. 15 – 8:10 a.m.

A break-in to the City College Geology trailer was reported. Although there was a functioning lock on the latch, the latch had been cut through. Nothing of significance was stolen besides some Band-Aids, thermometers and some aspirin. A police report was filed.
