Editor, The Channels,
I attend evening classes on both the East and West campuses and occasionally I find myself inhaling cigarette smoke as I enter or exit buildings.
As a non-smoker I am sensitive to breathing in second-hand smoke and ask kindly that all smokers on campus please adhere to the “smoke free campus” policies by smoking only in the designated areas, which are away from entrances and high traffic walkways.
Smoking is damaging to the health and I would strongly support a ban on smoking which would eliminate smoking on campus altogether. The likelihood of such a ban being implemented is very small and some might say that I should accept smokers and let them do as they please.
Well, OK, but how about respecting others by not polluting the air they breathe? If nothing else, please take your smokes away from doorways! Please be considerate of your fellow students.
