Loud partying leads to stabbing on Oceano Avenue

Detectives are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred early Tuesday morning near school, which sent a 21-year-old man to the hospital after a fight with two other subjects, authorities say.

Police arrived at 1:48 a.m., after receiving reports of a stabbing that occurred at 123 Oceano Avenue, Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte said.

Upon arrival, “officers stopped a vehicle in the area to discover a male victim, age 21, suffering from stab wounds to the upper torso,” Duarte said in a press release. Friends were in the process of bringing him to the hospital. Medics then took him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.

Duarte said that the victim is possibly a student from Alan Hancock College in Santa Maria.
