CD Review – Pearl Jam’s ‘Backspacer’

It’s hard to believe that Pearl Jam has been around long enough for some classic rock stations to play their songs, and yet they keep coming out with outstanding albums.

“Backspacer”, PJ’s ninth studio album is as powerful and energetic as their first record, “Ten,” released almost 20 years ago, proving that age doesn’t matter in rock ‘n’ roll.

This album comes together as a good harmony of all the elements of rock music. There are fast, hard-hitting, songs, like “The Fixer,” with a chorus that gets stuck in the brain for days.

There are more ambient songs that capture powerful emotion in a way only lyricist Eddie Vedder can. The acoustic “The End” is a classic, soft, and deeply moving Pearl Jam song. Vedder’s voice is beautiful, comforting and massages the soul.
