The organization Santa Barbara Beautiful awarded Board of Trustee‘s member Desmond O’Neill with the Jacaranda Award for Community Service on Sept. 20.
“I can’t think of anyone who deserves this award for community service more than Des,” Superintendent-President Dr. Andreea Serban said.
O’Neill received the award at the Santa Barbara Beautiful annual awards ceremony. Serban presented the award to him.
O’Neill has been on the Board of Trustees since 1994. Serban called him a “true believer in the mission of our college”.
“He has attended countless SBCC meetings and events representing the board, and his wise and thoughtful counsel, along with his enjoyable dry sense of humor, have been invaluable to us,” Serban said.
Serban also thanked Santa Barbara Beautiful for recognizing O’Neil’s contributions to the community.
