Summer trip to London canceled

The summer Study Abroad trip to London was cancelled because not enough students handed in applications before deadline.

The trip needed 20 students to go ahead and only 10 handed in applications. City College tried to extend the deadline but the people responsible for flight and housing refused to make extensions.

Carola Smith, director of the study abroad program, believes money could be the reason for students not participating.

“Cost is something we are looking to change next year,” she said. “If we change our locations of the trip then the cost may go down and the responses of students willing to go will most likely increase.”

This trip has had thirty or more students in the past so the poor number this time was a shock.

Another London trip is planned for spring 2006.
