The cast and crew of the musical and drama TV show “Glee” have revived some of Madonna’s most popular songs in a CD compilation.
It consists of the songs they performed on the episode “The Power of Madonna.”
The “Glee” cast successfully tribute Madonna’s songs in the CD named after the episode, “Glee-The Power of Madonna.” Six of Madonna’s chart-topping songs grace the album including “Like a Prayer,” “Like a Virgin,” and “Express Yourself.”
The character Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, sings a duet with Finn Hudson, played by Cory Monteith, in both “Like a Virgin” and “Like a Prayer.”
Sue Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch, sings a tantalizing version of Madonna’s song “Vogue.” The song is accompanied with a music video in the episode with a hilarious take at the cheer-squad coach in “Glee.”
The singers’ theatrical voices sound somewhat out-of-place against the pop instrumentals, but that’s what makes the versions of these songs so appealing.
