Spring Concert Preview

Midterms are over and finals are fast approaching. For the music department, the year’s end means the time to showcase a semester of work. May is scheduled to be full of culminating concerts by each of the department’s performing groups.

Beginning on May 1 with the City College Symphony Concert and ending with the Jazz Choir and Chamber Singers Concert on May 17, these end-of-the-year performances will be the last time that many of the students will have the chance to perform here. The time for commencing is around the corner, which means a time for change.

The concerts will be a farewell to the school year, as well as a chance for the groups to show what they have learned.

Band director Jim Mooy said that the directors have carefully chosen the material, and the musicians have been hard at work to put together the programs.

In the fall, the music department will begin again, conducting new auditions and welcoming back returning students. But the groups that have played together and sung together this year will not be the same.

The shows will take place at the Marjorie Luke Theatre, SOhO Music Club, First United Methodist Church, St. Anthony’s Seminary and the Fe Bland Forum on West Campus.
