CD Review- The Fame

Dance music diva Lady Gaga has burst on to the pop scene with her debut album “The Fame,” providing listeners with a unique blend of funky dance beats, glam-rock synthesizers, and saucy vocals.

Released on Oct. 28, 2008, “The Fame” debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 charts, peaking at No. 14 in late January. To describe the album’s smash-hit single “Just Dance” as catchy would be an understatement, as this song’s addicting beat and club-style tune put it at the top of the “songs you can’t get enough of” list.

The single “Poker Face” is equally entertaining, complete with spicy vocals that showcase Gaga’s genuine talent. The album seems to wind down by the later tracks, with a few less-than-original songs as the sick dance beats become inevitably repetitive. Just skip the boring tracks and “The Fame” proves to be a well-rounded opener, enough to put Lady Gaga on the dance music map.
