Review: ‘Escape the Fate’

Once known for insane melodies that left the listener curious about the mental stability of its members, Escape the Fate has come a long way with the release of their new album on Nov. 2, simply called “Escape the Fate.”

If you’re looking for the old Escape the Fate, then you will be disappointed.

The album has sparse use of the screaming that made the band so unusual on their first CD “Dying is Your Latest Fashion,” but contains a wide variety of other hard rock types.

The lead single “Massacre” was a bit of an odd choice as the song seems to have none of the personality of the band and sounds somewhat generic.

The other songs on the album follow a pattern that seems to be popular with other bands, consisting of screaming verses and then singing the chorus. The only real track worth mentioning is “Issues.” Although a good song, it’s nothing like how they used to sound and falls more into hard-rock.

The album leaves hope for the future of Escape the Fate, even as we wistfully watch them leave their previous style behind.
