The City College baseball team improved its record to 6-1, after sweeping a doubleheader at Saddleback on Sunday.
After Saturday’s action was cancelled the Vaqueros came out ready to play for Sundays doubleheader winning the first game 6-4 and the second 9-8.
Vaqs outfielder Aaron Bauman led the team by driving in 5-runs in the two games, as City College was able to overcome the hosting Gauchos.
“I got a chance to get up to the plate with runners on and basically just placed them,” Bauman said.
The Vaqueros early season success is reminiscent of the end of last season when a late surge earned the team an improbable post-season birth.
Bauman attributes the team’s early season success to countless hours of hard work on the practice field and in the batting cages. He also said his team has come to expect such success.
