A memorial celebration of the life of City College student and employee Laurel Dearry will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at the Winslow Maxwell Overlook on East Campus.
Dearry died Sept. 18, just two months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“She was a very caring and wise person who went out of the way to help students,” said Pam Bishop, who worked with her at the cashier’s office. “Laurel was a good person to be around.”
Margaret Okinaka, a retiree who is helping at the cashier’s office and also remembers Dearry well, said “I met her five years ago in payroll, when she first came to work here. She was a wonderful person and a good worker.”
Dearry’s family invites students, staff and faculty to attend and give brief eulogies if they wish.
