The transformer that exploded across the street from the college and shut down electricity to West Campus and parts of East Campus is now up and running.
California Edison, the school’s electricity provider, said that an animal, which was most likely a bird, got caught in the equipment and caused the disruption.
The boundaries of the outage reached the corner of Montecito and Chapala street. According to Edison, an estimated 2,000 customers were affected by the explosion.
